Lumberjack Bread has been awarded the "Show Star"

We at Ditsch are very happy about yet another award-winning product: our lumberjack bread was discovered by the "Convenience Shop" magazine on the Intergastra 2010 and immediately awarded the “Show Star” in the category product concept. Thanks to its considerable weight of 200g the lumberjack bread is a very savoury snack that does not leave you with an empty stomach: a tasty slice of dark bread, topped with bacon, cheese, chives, onions, garlic and refined with various spices. A savoury meal to be enjoyed at home or on the way.

Award at Taste `09

Fans of Ditsch’s “cheese croissant with original Leerdammer cheese” knew it right from the start: nobody would be able to resist! And that is exactly what happened to the panel of experts during the Innovation Award ceremony “Anuga Taste ‘09“ at the Anuga food trade fair in Cologne. The tasty croissant, filled and garnished with high-quality Leerdammer cheese which is well-known and popular throughout Germany, simply stood out from a variety of suggestions from the exhibitors. That is why it received an award in the category “Frozen Food” as a particularly creative and trend-setting idea. At a special exhibition at Messeboulevard Nord the cheese croissant with original Leerdammer cheese, created by Ditsch Pretzel Bakery, was proudly presented to more than 160,000 trade visitors and media from all over the world. The award-winning frozen-food product is available both retail (folding cartons containing 4 pieces at 95g each) and at cash and carries (cartons containing 50 pieces at 95g each).

Trainee Programme

To support trainees not only in matters concerning the company, but also with regard to general knowledge and regional events, Ditsch Pretzel Bakery motivated its second-year trainees (industrial clerks) to participate in the project “ZeiLe” (“LiNe”) – trainees reading the newspaper of the University of Koblenz-Landau. The campaign is sponsored by the regional newspapers in Rhineland-Palatinate, the Regional Association of Newspaper Publishers Rhineland-Palatinate/Saar, the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Education as well as the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Rheinhessen. From October of this year the trainees will be supplied with free copies of the Mainzer Allgemeine Zeitung. The costs will be paid by Ditsch. A comprehensive test was carried out at the beginning of the project to asses the trainees’ general knowledge and will be repeated after the end of the project. In the meantime, Ditsch’s trainees will be quizzed every two weeks about information which keen newspaper readers should know. Again, the project focuses on supporting our trainees to increase their knowledge. They are supposed to benefit from their improving general knowledge without being pressurised and profit from their extended vocabulary during and after their vocational training.

Only the Cream of the Crop

Baking as a Family Tradition
For 90 years, it has been the highest aim of the family business Ditsch to delight people with its pastries. The artistry concerning pretzels, pizzas, croissants and snacks has constantly been refined over three generations. Even in the year 2010 the will to excel ourselves again and again is unbroken.

The Ingredients: Always a Bit Better
We do not lower our sights when purchasing our ingredients. That is why only premium ingredients from carefully selected suppliers find their way into our pastries. They must be aromatic, pure and unadulterated and supply the best of nutrients. For example, we do not use any food imitations. After all, we want to offer our customers an unparalleled taste experience with every bite!

The Recipes: Premium Instead of Standard
The design of our products is always tailored to our customers’ wishes and preferences. In addition, we take the latest ingredient trends into consideration when developing our products. In this way, well-balanced recipes, masterly craftsmanship and unparalleled enthusiasm for pastries are combined to turn mere products into delicious works of art. This high quality is reflected by our excellent results in the DLG test. By the way, we only put products on the market which we find tasty, too!

Production: Trust, but Verify
It is our obligation to produce quality pastries at the highest level – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. Only after a number of strict controls may our pastries leave Production. As proof of our compliance with all current safety procedures with respect to handling and producing food we are regularly audited. Our two production sites in Mainz and Oranienbaum are certified according to the BRC (British Retail Consortium) standard and the IFS (International Food Standard).

In That Respect: “Always crisp, always fresh, always Ditsch!”
To put it briefly, traditional recipes combined with the very best ingredients and love for detail conjure up our extremely delicious pastries. Thanks to this fact, connoisseurs claim you can taste our love of our products.
